Marcelo Sandro de Oliveira (1989)
The mind speaks loudly while the essence of color whispers subtly...
In the last century, art itself has lost its references. In the expanded field, painting has lost its references. Now, color has lost its references. I focus my attention on the behavior of colors in context, leading me to create "reductive" paintings.
I seek to reveal what color is through its presence in my paintings.
I work with cotton, linen, and wood. Using oil as my medium, I search for the ideal pigment for each situation and each painting. I use ideas of synthesis of colors, darkness, and lightness in the decoding of each color itself.
By placing colors in specific contexts of contrast and lighting, and by blending or superimposing them, I uncover the unique qualities present in each moment and space.
As the painter, I am a tool. I use human vision, not human words, as an instrument to capture what color is.
